(1) Odor Sensation: Odor or smell produced by various chemical stimuli in the external environment is sensed through the sense of smell (nose). Odor sensation is caused by the stimulation of nerve fibers in two narrow tubes inside the nose, reaching the base of the cerebral cortex of the large brain. There are individual differences in the experience of odor sensations arising from chemical substances, i.e. the same stimulus that a chemical stimulus gives to one person may not cause the same sensation to another person. If the odor emanating from a single chemical substance is constantly felt for a long time, then we become accustomed to it as the sensitivity towards that substance gradually decreases.
(2) Taste sensation: Different types of taste arising from various chemical stimuli in the external environment are sensed by the tongue. Not only does the tongue serve as a sense of taste, but it is also important in the pronunciation of language, which is very important in human life. Only the tiny raised particles on the rough surface of the tongue, made up of muscles and attached to the ends of the jaws, give a taste. These particles are known as flavors
(3) Touch Sensation: Four different types of touch sensations are experienced through the sensory fibers scattered throughout the skin of the body. These include warmth, (heat) coldness, (cold) touch or pressure and pain.
